Suffolk Sportscars is dedicated to the production of the visually exact reproduction of the legendary Jaguar SS100, we have been in continual production of these cars for over 20 years. It is a pure and true in it's form, and is fully recognised and accepted by all the Jaguar car clubs around the world.
Led by increasing customer demand, we are now pleased to offer as a product ionised model, the remanufactured Suffolk Jaguar XK120.
This project starts with an original and unloved Jaguar XK120 - which can still be found in unrestored condition and make the perfect basis for this excellent new Suffolk built car.
Upon receipt of an order we will begin the strip down and cataloguing of the original car. Essential original items are saved such as the chassis and various original XK120 parts. The chassis is then stripped of all paint and rust and fully inspected, checked for straightness and any restorative works carried out. Also at this time, the additional bracketed required for our special in house Suffolk made parts are added.
Once complete, the chassis goes away for powder coating in satin black.
When the chassis returns, it is time to begin assembly, with the front suspension, disc brakes and rack and pinion steering.
Then, the 240BHP 4.2 litre engine and all synchromesh overdrive Jaguar gearbox are fitted. At this stage the whole assembly is given a 4 wheel laser alignment and shimmed as required for the desired castor, camber and toe settings.
Shortly after this the body will arrive with us for trial fitting. Critically, this body is not one that is made by inferior 'super forming' or made using cheap labour overseas. It is made in the UK by real artisans who have a genuine passion for the product, and is made on Suffolk's own body jig and tooling. It is not available elsewhere on the market.
Out rear bulkhead and pedal box arrangements are such that there is over 6" extra room inside the car lengthways, and 2" vertically, allowing drivers of any size to enjoy an XK120 in comfort - this was a big shortcoming and complaint of the original car.
After checking and shimming of the bodywork it is removed and is sent to the paint shop on our body jig to be painted in the customer's choice of colour. At Suffolk Sportscars you are not restricted to any colour palette and we can take colours from anywhere in the world. We can also assist you in commissioning your own colour scheme or taking inspiration from the world around you.
When the painted body is returned, the fitting up of the car can begin. The bespoke pedal box using some C-type parts, and a remote servo, and hidden fluid reservoirs. The electric power steering unit and adjustable column. An alternator built into a dynamo body, remanufactured gauges, a new wiring loom and upgraded lighting all make the car safer and more reliable to use.
Even auxiliary charging and a hidden storage compartment in the centre arm rest are standard. A hidden bluetooth audio system is also available. This is a classic car that its 100% 21st century ready, and can be used on a daily basis in today's modern world.
Looking to the interior- 2 electrically heated and fluted leather bucket seats, styled after the original bench are handcrafted in Suffolk with cushion densities to suit you. They are adjustable on sliders and a hidden storage compartment is in the arm rest. A full tonneau cover with zip, a full hood, and side screens are included and made in mohair to match or contrast the car's colour scheme.
We are pleased to be able to build a Suffolk Jaguar XK120 remanfactured in aluminium to a customer order and offer a 12 month guarantee against the specific failure of any mechanical part. We undertake to supply replacement parts on an exchange basis only. Cars requiring labour as part of their 12 month guarantee can be returned to our works at the customer's cost, so that the repair can be carried out for free.
Completed cars are supplied with the latest British Department of Transport Vehicle Registration Document V5C and a 12 month MOT certificate.
Each Suffolk Jaguar XK120 retains its original 1950s historic registration as it is ostensibly an original classic car. This can simplify registration regulations in certain countries.
We have exported completed cars to most European countries and also to the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Catalytic converters are not necessary but can be fitted where local regulations require.
